Halo 3 Official Release Date Confirmed!

Halo 3With anticipation building for the soon-to-be-launched Halo 3 multiplayer beta tomorrow at 5 a.m. PDT, Microsoft has commemorated the occasion a little early by just announcing the official release date for the third chapter in the Halo trilogy. Mark your calendars for September 25 folks, as that’s when Master Chief officially commences his debut assault on the Xbox 360 worldwide (save for Europe, which will get the game the following day on the 26th).

Halo 3 is much more than a video game release; it’s the biggest entertainment event of the year,” said Peter Moore, corporate vice president of Microsoft’s Interactive Entertainment Business. “On Sept. 25, we intend to deliver a finale that will go down in entertainment history and leave people around the world with an experience that will be shared and enjoyed for years to come.”

To continue the hype machine for the most over-hyped franchise in the business already (in my opinion at least), Microsoft has also announced this evening a special edition Halo 3-themed Zune digital media player that will be released exclusively at GameStop on June 15 for $249. The Halo 3 Zune will come loaded with artwork, videos and music from all three Halo games along with an exclusive new episode of “Red vs. Blue” from machinima creator Rooster Teeth Productions.
