Mercenary Kings, Tribute Games’ Kickstarter funded side-scrolling shoot ’em up for PC and PS4, has a new Kickstarter campaign in its name. However, this crowd funding effort is for the creation of a glorious art book and strategy guide from Off Base Productions.

If fully funded, the Mercenary Kings Master Codex will be an 8″ x 11″ full-color, 200-page guide filled with “mission walkthroughs, strategic boss strategies, crafting recipes, detailed maps, thoughtful build suggestions,” and of course incredible art work from cover to cover.

Stéphane Boutin of Tribute Games is providing the art for the SNES-style cover for the standard edition while comic artist Corey Lewis has created a spectacular alternate cover that will be exclusive to 1,000 copies of a Limited Edition Variant version of the Master Codex.

If all goes according to plan, Off Base Productions will release the Mercenary Kings Master Codex late this year alongside the game’s projected release on PlayStation 4 as a launch title. If you’re interested in kicking in some fundage, backer rewards include goodies like a poster, art print, bullet-casing USB thumb drive pre-loaded with the game, soundtrack and a digital copy of the art book and, at the highest tier, a 1/12th scale arcade cabinet replica made by Retro Heart that displays artwork from the game on a 1.5″ LCD screen.
