Presented in the form of an instructional video, Capcom and FromSoftware’s latest trailer for Kinect tank battle game Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor teaches the ins and outs of piloting a VT (Vertical Tank). Armed with a stock Xbox 360 pad and a Kinect full-body tracking system, tank pilots will move and fire with the basic controller and use hand and body movements for other actions, such as starting the engine, raising the periscope, shifting gears, opening the hatch, looking through binoculars, switching ammo types, activating self destruct, and so on. I think the video would have been even more instructional had it shown an actual person playing the game and performing the interactions, but the gameplay footage is descriptive enough to give a clear idea of what it’s like in the VT cockpit. If you’re in the Boston area this weekend and plan to attend PAX East, drop by the Capcom booth for a chance to play the Manhattan Beach Landing level and then pop over to Microsoft’s booth to check out a brand new mission set in New York.
