Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX Confirmed for PS3 Release Next Year

Now that Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 ReMIX is in stores, you knew it was only a matter of time before Square Enix announced a Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX. That time is now!

Scheduled to launch in 2014 exclusively on PlayStation 3, Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX somehow manages to top its predecessor. This remixed compilation will include new HD editions of PS2 title Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix, Kingdom Hearts: Birth by Sleep Final Mix from the PSP, and theatrical cutscenes from Nintendo DS game Kingdom Hearts: Re:coded.

Yes, that’s both Japanese Final Mix editions coming to the Americas for the first time, and Birth by Sleep remade in HD with trophies for PS3. Well, slap me silly and call me Sora!

Clearly Square Enix is getting players ready and building hype for the hopefully-it-will-be-available-in-this-lifetime release of Kingdom Hearts III on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. If Kingdom Hearts HD 2.5 ReMIX is coming out next year, I’m going to take a guess that Kingdom Hearts III won’t be ready until 2015 at the earliest. And that’s probably being generous given Square Enix’s recent track record of absurdly long development cycles.
