Learn more about the world and story behind Lair in this new behind the scenes video with the game’s developer Factor 5 (also now on the PlayStation Store with yesterday’s update). I’m not buying that Lair is as dreadful as critics are saying and am still very much looking forward to trying it for myself. Hope to play it soon, will chime in with a review as soon as I can.

oh, it’s not bad at all, it’s just that you need to REALLY be comfortable with using the sixaxis the way the game wants you to. sometimes it works, sometimes it’s like trying to walk a great dane on fire…
Tried Lair over at my friend Deadguy’s apartment. To say the least: it’s pretty. To say the most: the controls are HORRIBLE. Greg is right in that you need to be really comfortable with the way they want you to use the Sixaxis…and if by comfortable, they mean they want you to stick the Sixaxis in your rectum and use your internal muscle to tilt it back and forth, left and right, and whatever else…then yeah…it probably works.
I need to get some hemmorhoid cream. BRB.
Forgot to add:
“Coincidentally, the fecal matter that will be left on the Sixaxis bares a close resemblance to the piece of plastic you pulled out of the Lair case.”
….
Yes, I just called Lair “shit”. That’s not Sony bashing…that’s hype bashing!
heh… so much for the tactful approach.
OK, so I just got Lair yesterday and fuck all the bitchers and moaners, this game is solid. The motion controls aren’t hard to handle at all- they felt natural to me right away without even the slightest learning curve. Flying around tilting the controller feels fluid to me, it’s really just some of the gestures for quick turning and the takedowns that don’t always register properly, that and the targeting is a bit finicky. Is it the uber PS3 killer-app it was hyped up to be? No. But it’s still a strong title for the system. At least I’m happy with it.
and, as i just found out yesterday, it’s even better with a FragFX controller… this baby actually makes the game a LOT better although you still get a few of those funky targeting issues now and then…
