Lansing State Journal Article About Me

On March 30th, I received an email from Kevin Grasha a the Lansing State Journal who wanted to speak with me about competitive video gaming, How I practice for competitions, and the upcoming Foundation Gaming Convention which was hosted here from April 1st to the 3rd.

We spoke on the phone for about a half hour that afternoon and I answered many of his questions. He wanted to know what games I compete in, why I compete, how long I’ve been doing this sort of thing, what is the community like, etc. He was surprised to learn that each game that I competed in had its own community tied to it. I also pointed him in the direction of a few competitive gaming leagues such as Major League Gaming and The AGP.

About a half hour after the interview, I received another email from Kevin. His editor suggested he come over to my house so he could observe how I practice for a competition and perhaps snap a few pictures. So later that evening Kevin came by with a photographer, asked me some more questions and took a few pictures of me playing some of the games that I planned on competing in the upcoming convention.

On the left is one of the two pictures that the Lansing State Journal decided to print for the article. It’s the only one that is on the web, the other is a print exclusive. The article ran on April 1st and an online version may be found here.
