Madden 09: First Screens of Brett Favre as a Jet

The Madden curse has struck once again, so it appears. Brett Favre, after signing on to be the cover athlete for Madden NFL 09 as a retired Green Bay Packer quarterbacking legend, is now back in the league as a New York Jet. Man, it’s weird just saying that. And it’s even weirder seeing him in his new green and white jersey as displayed in these first screenshots of Favre as a Jet in Madden.

In case you were wondering, Favre as a Jet won’t be on the Madden disc right out of the box, but rather will be added via a roster patch on the game’s launch day next week. With Favre changing teams on such short notice, there was no way for EA Sports to go about changing the final retail box art either. Therefore, when you pick up a copy of Madden, the Favre you’ll see on the box will still be in his Packer jersey. EA will, however, be releasing a downloadable, printable box cover updated to reflect the team change.
