Mass Effect 3 Demo, Won’t You Be My Valentine?

Lonely (or romantically neglectful) gamers of the world, for once make plans for Valentine’s Day this year. While others are out swapping chocolates and smooching the night away all lovey-dovey, turn the lights down low, light a nice, warm fire, nudge on your favorite mood music, poor a glass of champagne, and snuggle up with Commander Shepard (he’s so dreamy!) for a wild night of passionate Mass Effect 3 demo playing.

This Valentine’s Day, February 14th, EA and BioWare will release the Mass Effect 3 demo on PSN, Xbox Live and PC digital download channels, giving intergalactic soldiers the chance to play a substantial portion of the game before the real deal ships on March 6th.

The extensive demo will allow players to experience the all-out galactic war against an ancient alien race known as the Reapers from multiple fronts, including the mind-blowing opening attack on Earth that kicks off the single-player campaign. Players will go deeper into the campaign and also get a taste of the franchise’s new co-operative multiplayer mode as they preview the epic story, adrenaline-pumping action and deep customization options that lie ahead when Mass Effect 3 launches on March 6, 2012.

The co-op portion of the demo will be widely available on February 17th, however qualifying players will get early access from day one. Early access will be awarded to Battlefield 3 online pass registrants and “through other opportunities that will be announced in the near future.” For Xbox 360 players, the Mass Effect 3 demo will feature full support for the exclusive Kinect voice command system BioWare has added to the game. Speaking of which, at the bottom of the page you can watch a newly released “Better With Kinect” featurette highlighting said voice command mechanic.

Also don’t forget about the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning cross-promotion. By playing the Mass Effect 3 demo you can unlock bonus items to use in Reckoning, and by playing the Reckoning demo that came out this week bonus gear is unlocked for use in Mass Effect 3.
