A retro sprite art mix of Metal Slug and Mega Man with a dash of Borderlands looting, crafting, and co-op, Mercenary Kings is ready to blast into action on Steam Early Access starting July 22nd for $15, a 25% discount on what the “full” game will eventually cost.
The Kickstarter funded 2D platforming shooter from Tribute Games, makers of the wonderful indie brick-buster Wizorb, will release in Early Access as a “beefed up version” of the game’s first milestone projection, which means it should offer somewhere in the ballpark of 30 to 40 missions, 4-player local co-op, Achievements, 4 bosses, 15 different enemy types, tens of primary and secondary weapon sets, a basic shop setup and so on. From there, the game only promises to get bigger and badder, and eventually the game is even set to make a next-gen console appearance on PlayStation 4.
