Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain Collector’s Edition Comes With Big Boss’ Bionic Arm

Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain‘s launch date is all set. The console versions for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One will ship on September 1st, and the PC version will launch digitally via Steam on September 15th. Unlike Metal Gear Rising and Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes, this time PC gamers won’t be waiting around with their snakes in their hands for almost a year after the original console releases.

The Phantom Pain will be sold across all platforms in a “Day 1 Edition” containing a physical map of the game world as well as these DLC perks: Adam-ska Special Handgun; Personal Ballistic Shield (Silver); Cardboard Box (Wetland); Fatigues (Blue Urban Snake Costume); Metal Gear Online XP Boost. The Day 1 Edition will retail at $59.99 on PS4, Steam, and Xbox One, and $49.99 on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Exclusively for PS4 and Xbox One, a Collector’s Edition bundle will also be sold for $99.99. What’s it packing? Oh I don’t know, only a half-scale replica of Big Boss’ bionic arm! That plus the world map, special packaging (both a SteelBook case for the game itself and what appears to be a faux leather or snakeskin Diamond Dogs main box), a bonus Blu-ray disc with trailers and documentary footage, and a mother lode of DLC that’s thrown in because it makes you think you’re getting a lot extra stuff when you’re really only getting what ends up being useless cosmetic items.
