MGS4 “Delayed”

Konami has sent out a release update for Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots today, announcing that the PS3 exclusive title has been “delayed” until Q1 2008 in Japan and Q2 2008 in North America (and other regions) “in order to make further improvements to the quality of the game and provide even greater enjoyment for more customers worldwide.” With this “news”, the Internet has erupted with gamer uproar like this is some sort of shocking revelation, when it really is anything but. Sure, the game was originally targeted to release this winter, but Konami already made it known months ago at E3 that it was slipping into early next year, and never gave a specific release date thereafter. And they still haven’t, so please calm down, this is hardly some huge delay. I mean seriously, Q1 and Q2 are early 2008 dates, are they not?

Honestly, the only real news out of today’s update is that MGS4 is no longer receiving the much-hyped “simultaneous worldwide release” Konami had been billing the title for.
