Mickey Mouse Returns to the Castle of Illusion this Summer

Following up on last week’s blatantly obvious teaser trailer for a Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse remake, Sega and Disney Interactive today have made the game announcement official with a new trailer — this time in color, and featuring Mickey Mouse himself — and a handful of screenshots. As you can see, the game is a true polygonal remake rather than a quick and easy re-release of the original with high-def sprites. Mickey and the environments he hops around in are 3D, but the gameplay appears to be staying true to its 2D platforming roots (with some new mechanics being added of course).

Castle of Illusion Starring Mickey Mouse is due for release this summer on PSN, XBLA and Windows PC via Steam. (No Wii U? No Vita? What’s up with that, Sega and Disney?)
