Years ago during the BonusStage days, I reviewed a Nintendo DS scrolling shooter by the name of Nanostray. (I have a backup copy of the review saved somewhere on my PC and should probably post it at some point just for the hell of it.) It was awesome; one of those great sleeper games that made the DS such a well-rounded gaming machine. I missed the direct sequel that came out shortly after, but I have no intentions of making the same mistake twice when Nano Assault ships for Nintendo 3DS late next month.
I’m not sure how deep Nano Assault‘s relations to the Nanostray games run, but it is in the same class of scrolling arcade shoot-’em-up, it is developed by Shin’en, and it does have “Nano” in the title. This time around, the graphics are in 3D (duh!) and players will blast their way through 32 microscopic cell stages in order to prevent the Nanostray virus from “contaminating all of human civilization.”
Check out the trailer embedded up top — this game is going to kick some serious Nintendo 3DS butt. Watch for it on store shelves November 22nd.
