As of today, EA has released a playable demo for the Xbox 360 version of NBA Street Homecourt onto the Xbox Live Marketplace. In the demo, you can play as either the Denver Nuggets or the Detroit Pistons in a short game to 7 points (win by two) on one court in Venice Beach. I just finished trying the demo out and unfortunately I must say that what I saw didn’t impress me at all, and I’ve been a huge fan of the series before this. Sure, the graphics are pretty on the surface, but the animations don’t seem very fluid and the gameplay just doesn’t feel nearly as tight as the previous games from last generation. After playing four our five games, I also found the extremely high rate of steals and blocked shots to become incredibly annoying. Hopefully the final game, which ships for the 360 on February 20th and for the PS3 on March 6th, comes together better than what’s in the demo. Though right now I can’t say I’m all that optimistic after what I just played…
