New PS3 Acquired, Time to Catch Up

Great news! Over the weekend I was able to pick up a new PS3. Hurray!

I braved the holiday shopping crowd at the nearest GameStop Saturday afternoon and bought a new 250GB PS3 slim. I had to trade in a buttload of old games to afford it, but hey, it had to be done.

I spent much of Saturday night setting everything up, getting my PSN content queued up for downloading, installing games and downloading updates, so I’m pretty much all set there. Unfortunately I lost most of my game saves — thankfully I was able to back up Borderlands, Dragon Age, Modern Warfare 2, Uncharted 2 and Trine onto a USB flashdrive before my old PS3 died completely — so I’m going to have to start a number of games over again, which is a bit of a setback. I’m also having trouble getting my trophy account to sync with my new system (apparently there is some sort of bug going around, with the latest PS3 firmware update appearing to be the likely cause), but hopefully whatever is causing that gets ironed out soon.

Now that I have a functioning PS3 once again, I’m going to do what I can to catch up on all the games that have piled up here over the past couple weeks (and the games I was working on when my system died) before Christmas hits. As long as there aren’t any more setbacks the next few weeks should (hopefully) be very busy. Stay tuned!
