New Saints Row 2 Trailer Mocks GTA IV, Commits Cardinal Sin

THQ, Volition… what in bloody hell were you all thinking when you put together this latest Saints Row 2 trailer comparing the game to the behemoth that is Grand Theft Auto IV. I finally just got around to picking up GTA IV myself and personally don’t get what all the hubbub is about (a lot of what this trailer mocks I actually agree with), but even I, a gamer who doesn’t think Rockstar’s supposed epic is all that special, know that going up against it in any way is a bad, bad move. Maybe even game suicide. Everyone who loves GTA IV — and there are MILLIONS of such gamers — will now most assuredly just start to hate Saints Row 2, even if it turns out to be a great game and a worthy competitor. I know this was just meant to be a fun thing and I certainly appreciate the playfulness (and bravery) behind the idea, but I’m definitely more reasonable and forgiving when it comes to stuff like this than much of the gaming public. So yeah, I don’t think this was a very smart move…
