There’s a new Deus EX on the way. It’s called Deus Ex: The Fall and it picks up directly after the events of the Deus Ex novel, The Icarus Effect, starring former British SAS Mercenary and augmented bad ass killing machine, Ben Saxon.
That’s great news, right? Yes and no. You see, Deus Ex: The Fall isn’t a full-fledged sequel to the excellent Human Revolution. It’s a new episodic spin-off for iPad and iPhone coming from Square Enix Mobile, Eidos-Montréal and N-Fusion.
Mobile smart device gamers will happily get sucked into the story driven cyberpunk role-playing universe of Deus Ex, but at the same time the game is also likely to enrage existing “hardcore” fans who “didn’t ask for this, dammit!” I’m no tablet gamer either, but relax, I’m sure Eidos will get around to a true next-gen Deus Ex successor once Thief is a wrap.
Deus Ex: The Fall‘s first installment is set to debut this summer on iOS for $6.99. Check the video for an early walkthrough demonstration of Deus Ex‘s rather impressive mobile touch screen capabilities.
This is going to be quite impressive. I assure you of that. Been waiting for a new Deus Ex since the original.
