One of the neat features of the Nintendo 3DS is StreetPass, a sort of always-on social networking function that automatically connects and exchanges data, such as Mii characters, game stats and in-game items, with other nearby systems while your 3DS is in sleep mode. Unfortunately, if you don’t get around much or don’t have a friend with a 3DS, you won’t be able to appreciate the joys of StreetPass. But Nintendo wants to help change that.
As part of a new Meetup Everywhere online community portal, Nintendo has officially proclaimed June 25th to be StreetPass Day. On that day, Nintendo is encouraging all 3DS owners to host their own local StreetPass gatherings for one big worldwide Mii swapping party.
The Meetup Everywhere website allows visitors to search for and join Nintendo 3DS communities around the world, or start a local 3DS community of their own. Start preparing your StreetPass Day meetup today at www.meetup.com/nintendo3ds!
