The Internet has been all abuzz this dreary (where I live at least) Monday morning/afternoon with the surprise announcement of Fallout: New Vegas. Bethesda Softworks announced the game at a press event in London today, revealing that the game is not a sequel or spin-off to Fallout 3 but an entirely new and independent Fallout title.
Of course, for diehard Fallout fans the most exciting part of today’s announcement is that Obsidian Entertainment, the team of former Black Isle developers who helped create the first two Fallout games, is developing New Vegas. I’m sure the many fans who thought Fallout 3 paled in comparison to its predecessors are jumping for joy right about now.
Fallout: New Vegas is currently slated to release next year for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360. Beyond these few early details, Bethesda and Obsidian are keeping mum on the game for now.
