PayDay: The Heist Delayed, But Here’s a New Trailer

Sony Online Entertainment’s squad-based crime FPS PayDay: The Heist was supposed to launch this week via digital download for PC and PS3. But on the eve of its release, SOE has announced a sudden delay, stating only that it will now be released sometime later this month. Here’s what SOE has to say about the launch date slip:

This delay is a move to ensure players and fans of our promise and vision to produce high-caliber games that deliver the best quality game experience. Players who pre-ordered PAYDAY: The Heist will receive the game at launch, and those who purchased the four other PSN titles as part of the PlayStation®Network PLAY program will also be awarded PAYDAY: The Heist when it launches later this month, according to the terms of that program.

If you were looking forward to PayDay, the new trailer at the top of the page should help cheer you up a little. In it, criminals stage a daring prisoner escape on a crowded bridge amidst a nasty storm. The game continues to look very promising. Hopefully the delay is to tighten up the network and not to fix something more serious.
