Pinball FX2 on Xbox One is Finally Happening

It’s taken a lot longer than expected, but Zen Studios has announced that Pinball FX2 will finally hit Xbox One on July 31st. Like always, the base platform will be a free download, including the full Sorcerer’s Lair table free of charge, with free trial versions of all tables available to sample before buying. Individual table add-ons will range from $2.49 to $2.99, and the themed bundle packs will cost $9.99.

At launch, these tables will be available, remastered at 1080p and 60 frames per second:

• Deadpool
• Star Wars Pinball: Heroes Within – Episode IV A New Hope, Han Solo, Droids, Masters of the Force
• Star Wars Pinball: Balance of the Force – Episode VI Return of the Jedi, Starfighter Assault, Darth Vader
• Star Wars Pinball Original pack – Episode V, Boba Fett, The Clone Wars
• Doctor Strange
• Zen Classics – Shaman, El Dorado, Tesla and V12
• Pinball FX2 Core pack – Biolab, Pasha, Rome, Secrets of the Deep
• Marvel Civil War
• Plants VS. Zombies
• Marvel Pinball pack – Spider-Man, Iron Man, Wolverine, and Blade
• Marvel Pinball Avengers Chronicles: World War Hulk, Infinity Gauntlet, The Avengers, and Fear Itself
• Marvel Pinball Vengeance and Virtue: Ghost Rider, Moon Knight, Thor, and X-Men
• Epic Quest
• Paranormal
• Sorcerer’s Lair
• Captain America
• Fantastic Four
• Mars
• Earth Defense
• Excalibur

As pictured up top, The Walking Dead Pinball will also be available on Xbox One. But a release date for that has not been announced.

Unfortunately, this news isn’t all flippers and shiny metal balls. Since the Xbox Live digital marketplace does not offer cross-buy, Zen Studios currently has no way to allow gamers who have already purchased any of these tables on Xbox 360 to import them to Xbox One free of charge, unlike Zen Pinball 2 which makes it easy to buy a table once and play it across PS3, PS4 and Vita.

Zen is aware of fans’ disappointment over this situation, and the good news is that a resolution is being worked on. On the Zen Studios blog, the studio’s community manager, BarbieBobomb, has been responding to commenters and providing at least a glimmer of hope that they are pushing to come to some sort of agreement (presumably with Microsoft) to make free imports possible. If anything changes, we’ll let you know.
