Prototype CES Footage Impresses

Stemming from the merger with Blizzard, Activision sold off many of the Sierra game properties acquired in the deal, but one of the few that it kept was Radical Entertainment’s Prototype. Back when Sierra was alive, well and promoting the game I never saw much to get me that excited, but at CES this week Activision unloaded this trio of Prototype videos — a new trailer and two clips from the company’s demo on the show floor — and boy have they ever piqued my interest in the game…finally!

If while watching the videos you begin to think of inFamous, don’t worry, you aren’t alone. The two titles, while different in overall style, seem eerily similar in concept. However, a few differences appear to give Prototype the edge — in video form at least — such as the extreme gore and seemingly more diverse range of combat actions. It’s going to be very interesting to see how these two games compare when they’re finished and released, which in Prototype‘s case will be this summer for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
