PS3 PlayStation Store Redesign Coming Mid-April

The recently rumored redesign of the PS3 PlayStation Store is now no longer just a rumor. This morning, SCEA confirmed the redesign, releasing the above image to give a sneak peek at the new interface. As you can see, there will now be eight main category listings to make finding all the latest trailers, demos, games and other content a whole lot quicker and easier. Other than the additional content headings and sharper, more dynamic aesthetics, the provided pic doesn’t show anything else that appears too much different than the current interface.

SCEA isn’t giving a specific date for when the revamped PS3 PlayStation Store will go live, only stating that it’s planned to be in a mid-April firmware update. However, SCEA has announced that in order to get the new storefront up and running there will be no store updates this Thursday, April 3rd or next Thursday, April 10th, and that the redesign will be in place in time for the launch of Gran Turismo 5 Prologue. So with GT5 Prologue set to hit retail and digital download on April 17th (a Thursday), that’s all but guaranteed to be the date to watch out for.
