Think you’re the best darn Wii gamer out there? Now’s the time to prove it!

Beginning July 16th, Nintendo will kick off Wii Games: Summer 2010, a friendly summer Olympics competition inviting Wii gamers from across the country to face off and prove once and for all who is the king/queen of Wii waggle.

Wii Games: Summer 2010 will begin in Liberty State Park in New Jersey and close with a national championship event in Los Angeles on September 3-5, with tournaments to take place in 24 markets across the nation, including Six Flags theme parks and shopping malls. With Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson serving as Ambassador, the event will test player skill in five challenges from four popular games: Wii Sports Resort (basketball and bowling), Wii Fit Plus (Hula Hoop), New Super Mario Bros. Wii (Coin Battle) and Mario Kart Wii (Time Trial).

The competition will be divided into age categories for Teen, Adult, Super Adult and a combined-age division so families and friends can play together, and in each age grouping two- and four-player teams will compete to earn the highest aggregate score across the five game activities. An online sweepstakes will also be held for those who can’t make it out to one of the tournament locations.

What can you win for competing? Some pretty sweet stuff, that’s what. The first place team (in the family category) will win a grand prize package including a Royal Caribbean cruise, free first party Nintendo games for a whole year, a free 1-year Netflix subscription, a black Wii console, an “Ultimate Entertainment Package” containing a flat-screen TV and surround sound system, and a gold trophy to honor their achievement. Oh, and they’ll get their mugs featured in Nintendo national print advertisements.
