Russian indie developer Sobaka has joined forces with Gambitious Digital Entertainment to bring the studio’s top-down brawler Redeemer to PC via GOG and Steam later this year (with hopes for possible console releases in the future).
Telling the story of Vasily, formerly a murderous assassin and torturer for an arms corporation who escaped to the peace and seclusion of a monastery to become a monk, Redeemer is a visceral, bloodthirsty action game that appears to draw heavily from games like God of War, Hotline Miami, and Mortal Kombat. If nothing else, Vasily certainly has the look and attitude of Kratos nailed to a T.
Offering both a narrative-driven story campaign as well as a horde-like survival arena mode, Redeemer packs on the ultra-violence through brutal hand-to-hand combat, a wide variety of melee and ranged weapons, and close-up stealth kill and finishing move animations.
Don’t let the game sneak up on you this spring, or you’ll be deader than a mofo with a hammer through the skull. Vasily’s not playing around here, folks.
