Exactly as Matt said – it isn’t great freedom, it is *greater* freedom compared to the PC version.

I haven’t played the DS version so I can’t speak to any bugs, but I’m pretty sure Mike is referring to the game having more sense of freedom than the main console/PC version, which is so heavily scripted to the point where the game kills you off if you deviate in any way from a very specific path each level forces you to follow. He also says “this is still a Call of Duty game and so your options are limited,” so it’s not like he described the game as some free-roam open world shooter.

I’m currently publishing a video series showing enemys spawning in through the roof glitched hitboxes and many other things. I also have to take into consideration the validity of other future reviews when your idea of freedom is an old school corridor shooter.
