Screenshot Faceoff: Gears of War 1 vs. Gears of War 2

Does Gears of War 2 really look any better than Gears of War 1? That’s going to be a hot topic of debate once Gears 2 ships later this year. Shit, what am I talking about, the debate has already begun! Along with the barrage of screens and art I posted earlier tonight, Microsoft and Epic also provided this small batch of comparison shots showing how the Gridlock multiplayer map looks in both games. So what say you, which do you think looks better? Personally, I actually think Gears 1 is coming out ahead so far. Marcus Fenix’s character model definitely shows more visible detail in Gears 2, but the overall color palette and lighting is more appealing in the first game to me. And the sky, it’s far better looking in Gears 1.
