Sonic and over 15 other iconic Sega characters, including AiAi from Super Monkey Ball, Ulala from Space Channel 5 and Amigo from Samba De Amigo, are picking up tennis rackets and hitting the courts in Sega Superstars Tennis, coming to PS3, PS2, Xbox 360, Wii and DS in early 2008. Along with the various playable Sega characters and surprise cameos, the game will feature stages themed after classic Sega titles — Sonic’s Green Hill Zone and Amigo’s Carnival Park being the two first to be announced — and online play. But beyond those basics, specifics on game modes and the full character roster are still to come. All that really matters, though, is that Virtua Tennis developer Sumo Digital is at the helm, so there’s no doubt it’ll be a winner. Hit the jump for a gallery of early screens.

“Sega Superstars Tennis delivers a fun and fresh new take on tennis,” said Rick Naylor, Director of Marketing for SEGA of America. “From its pick-up-and-play arcade action to its exciting roster of fan-favorite characters and settings, Sega Superstars Tennis has something for everyone.”
