Hey Again!
As you may have noticed, we’ve done some upgrading today.
The most notable involves the inclusion of a Google Calendar detailing video game releases. It’s over there on the right of the main page and can dynamically add dates based on if you click forward or backward in time. We’ve always wanted a game release calendar on our site, but the few times we’ve tried we’ve found that it’s a nightmare to maintain. Thankfully, the folks over at VGCalendar.com manage this public Google Calendar, which lightens the load on our part.
Secondly, we’ve just upgraded to WordPress 2.5. I’ve gone over the site briefly and didn’t see any egregious problems, but if you notice anything feel free to send me or Matt and email about it and we’ll fix it as soon as possible.
Finally, if you make a comment you’ll notice that the authentication image is missing. We’ve upgraded our spam filtering to block spam based on message content, user IP, etc. So now you no longer have to worry about losing your comments if you mistype the authentication phrase!
As always, thanks for visiting VGBlogger!
Yeah, hopefully you find the new calendar useful. I loved the old one we had since we could customize it ourself, but it was just so time consuming to maintain, as Zach said. After the first couple weeks we just couldn’t keep it up to date and it just kinda sat there blank.
If you know of other games that aren’t on the calendar, you can also visit VGCalendar.com and send a tip to have a new release date or event added. So you can help shape how the calendar grows if you’d like!
And hurray for the upgraded spam filter! No more authentication codes, yay!
