SCEA has released first details regarding the development of MLB 08 The Show. Sony’s latest first-party baseball title is coming to PS3, PS2 and PSP sometime during spring ’08 with promises “to provide fans with the most realistic baseball experience to date.” Quite a claim, but with an improved Road to The Show mode, over 3,000 individual player animations, Umpire Personalities, a Progressive Batting Performance feature that rewards you for good play and penalizes you for poor performance, SportsConnect Online User Tracking for storing online preferences to the game server for quicker, more accurate matchmaking, custom soundtrack support for the PS3 and PSP versions, Home Run Derby EyeToy functionality on the PS2, commentary by Rex Huddler, Matt Vasgerian and Dave Campbell, an overall enhanced level of authenticity and realism and too many other new features to even list, MLB 08 may just deliver on the hype.

Stay tuned for individual updates containing screenshots and the complete (and rather massive) overviews for each version.
