3D technology is still very expensive on the high-end home entertainment level, and for many consumers the prices simply haven’t become reasonable enough to consider purchasing a 3D TV over a standard HD display. However, Sony is hoping to change that with its new dorm-room-gamer-targeted, PlayStation-branded 3D TV, a 24-inch LCD display capable of HD image quality, stereoscopic 3D and high quality audio at an affordable price.
That affordable price happens to be $499.99, a price that will get you not only the TV, but a companion pair of PlayStation 3D glasses (also to be sold separately for $69.99), an HDMI cable to connect to your PS3 right out of the box, and a copy of Insomniac Games’ anticipated PS3 FPS Resistance 3. That’s a pretty sweet bundle, don’t you think?
But wait, that’s not all. The TV’s most impressive feature is its exclusive ability to simultaneously display two full-screen gameplay images during split-screen modes in supported software titles. Harnessing this innovative technology, two players can game together side by side, each wearing a pair of 3D glasses so they can view their perspective on the action without it being squished into half of the screen. Awesome!
