Forget GDC, Sony saved the big announcements for its Destination PlayStation event today. Alongside the God of War PSP bundle, SCEA has also announced a Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots PS3 bundle! For $500 it’ll include an 80GB PS3, a copy of MGS4 and a DualShock 3 wireless controller. Oh, and it’ll be packed away in that sweet, sweet box you see above. The bundle will be available to coincide with MGS4‘s launch date which is currently set for sometime in late Q2 2008 (Kotaku says June 12th, though I haven’t seen any official confirmation on that from Sony or Konami as of yet).

In response to incredible demand, we will be manufacturing more 80GB PS3s for North America and the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots 80GB PS3 bundle is an ideal way to offer that continued value to our consumers,” said Jack Tretton, president and CEO, SCEA. “With Blu-ray having won the format war, our stellar software line-up and a broad product portfolio, we will continue to drive the incredible momentum we’ve been generating since last fall.”
