Spend 14 Uncut Minutes With The Surge

We’ve arrived at the end of another long and crazy week. Kick back, relax, and blow off a little steam for about 14 minutes while watching the latest gameplay video for Deck13’s dystopian action RPG The Surge, which was recently confirmed for a May launch on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.

Game Designer Adam Hetenyi showcases more of the game’s combat system, including its unique limb targeting mechanic, use of horizontal and vertical strikes in place of the more convential light and heavy attack setup, and deployable drones for ranged support attacks. Although not demonstrated in full, the video touches on the Metroidvanian level design elements where certain areas will need to be revisited at a later time in order to open previously inaccessible chests or doors. The voice acting and story aspects still seem a little iffy to me, but all in all The Surge is shaping up to be one hell of a sci-fi Souls-like.
