Responding to recent rumor that Final Fantasy XIII had been confirmed for a 2008 release date, Square Enix has issued a statement today saying that such reports are “erroneous and should be disregarded.” Now, that doesn’t mean the PS3-exclusive uber-RPG won’t come out this year, but until Square Enix gives an official announcement your best bet is to assume it’s not coming ’til 2009. I know I’m not holding my breath for an ’08 release, and I really don’t mind either way. I’ve always loved how Square Enix puts a lot of time in between entries in their big franchises compared to most companies that rush sequels out on a yearly basis, gives me time to savor each game and build up plenty of anticipation for the next release.

i really hope this game comes out soon, it is the most anticipated game for this year. i love all the final fantasy series and will get this game as soon as it comes out i am looking forward to it.
Type your comment here.I know I like all of them too especially this franchise,but theres also a rumor going around that Final Fantasy 13 is coming to the Xbox 360.If that happens I might have to rethink this and plan my actions carefully.

Right now it’s only coming to the 360 in North America and Europe. It’ll remain PS3 exclusive in Japan, and as of now Square Enix says Final Fantasy Versus XIII will stay exclusive to PS3. All that could easily change though.
In the most recent issue of game informer, Japan should expect to see FFXIII holiday 2009 and a US release spring or summer of 2010 unfortunatly. Personally I feel there will be a delay because of the agreement with xbox to host a simultanious release. :-((
I think you are dead on. Since FFXIII is remaining PS3 exclusive in Japan (at least as of now it is), a holiday ’09 release is possible and maybe even likely. But no way is it coming out in the US this year and I think spring/summer 2010 is even generous. Square Enix has already said they are finishing development on the PS3 version first and then moving on to porting the finished product to the 360. And they’ve also said they’ll hold the PS3 release until the 360 port is finished to launch them simultaneously. Unless plans change, I honestly don’t expect a US release until the 2010 holiday season. It may come earlier than that and I sure hope it does, but I’m certainly not expecting it to.
