Starr Mazer is the Bullet Hell Point-and-Click Adventure You Never Knew You Wanted

Another retro-style Kickstarter project getting a lot of buzz this week, joining pixel art beauty Children of Morta, is Starr Mazer by Imagos Softworks.

So what’s the big deal about Starr Mazer? Oh, only the fact that it’s combining point-and-click adventure gameplay with the bullet hell action of a shoot ‘em up, two classic genres that seemingly have no business going together yet appear to be a match made in pixelated heaven.

Despite its old school nature, Starr Mazer is a surprisingly ambitious game, which is probably why the minimum funding goal is set at $160k. That target will fund versions for PC/Mac/Linux, but if certain stretch goals are met the game could come to consoles, handhelds, and mobile platforms. A Steam Greenlight campaign is expected to begin soon.
