The second stop on our E3 2012 screenshot tour takes us into the wonderful world of PlayStation, where games like The Last of Us, Beyond: Two Souls, God of War: Ascension and The Unfinished Swan promise to astonish and old Oddworld adventures are reborn in HD. Sony may have missed an opportunity to really push the Vita during its press conference, but Sound Shapes, New Little King’s Story, Street Fighter X Tekken, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation and others also show that the powerhouse portable has even more quality software on the way.

My only question: where the hell is The Last Guardian? I understand the game not being ready for a stage demo, but a few new screenshots would have been a nice gesture, just to quell any vaporware fears.

Ellen Page Stars in Quantic Dream’s Beyond: Two Souls http://www.vgblogger.com/ellen-page-stars-in-quantic-dreams-beyond-two-souls/15905/ Tue, 05 Jun 2012 01:09:20 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=15905 BeyondTwoSouls

What’s with Sony’s infatuation with actress Ellen Page? Ellie from The Last of Us resembled the Inception star when the game was first unveiled, but has since been altered to look younger and a little more like the actual actress playing the part (which is not Ellen Page). However, the real reason for Ellie’s change could be that Ellen Page–the real one this time–has been cast in the lead role of the next PlayStation 3 game from Heavy Rain maker Quantic Dream.

Beyond: Two Souls has Page in the role, both motion-capture and voice over, of a girl named Jodie who possesses extraordinary, almost superhero-like powers through some sort of relationship with a mysterious invisible entity. The storyline will play out over the course of Jodie’s life, touching on themes of what happens after death and what lies beyond human existence.

Beyond is described as a psychological action thriller, the ‘action’ part of that equation being of most interest considering Quantic Dream’s two previous games, Heavy Rain and Indigo Prophecy, were more interactive cinema/adventure games with very little action in the traditional video game sense.

I am very curious to see where Quantic goes with this. It’s already visually and conceptually brilliant, now we just need to see how the game actually plays.
