So, an early Xbox 360 review copy of Sacred 2: Fallen Angel, which hits retail next week alongside the PS3 version, arrived yesterday afternoon, and after a good 3-4 hours of hacking, slashing, questing and looting last night alone I just wanted to give console gamers itching for a good old fashioned action-RPG fix a quick heads up that this is the hack-n-slash crack you’ve been craving. It is unbelievably addictive!
The other good news is that thus far the console adaptation seems fairly solid…on the Xbox 360 at least. There are some intrusive loading times that don’t exist on the PC and the graphics are a notch below what the game looks like on a high-end gaming rig, but other than that I haven’t come across any other noticeable limitations. The game runs smooth and the interface, while not entirely ideal, works well once you get a handle on where everything is.
Unfortunately for the copies of Ninja Blade and Velvet Assassin sitting by my 360 waiting to be finished, Sacred 2 will surely be taking up most of my console gaming time over the weekend. I’ll report back with a full review next week.

Today is a big day for Ascaron’s action-RPG Sacred 2: Fallen Angel. In the spirit of the holiday season, the game has been patched and updated with loads of free new content to keep gamers hacking and slashing across the lands of Ancaria through the New Year.
First up is the Content Update Patch 2.34 (aka Holiday Content Pack), a free update that includes a new Christmas Island area to explore, an all-new holiday-themed quest line, around 20 new creatures to slay, and new NPCs, armor sets for all of the game’s playable characters, and weapons. The update also comes with an enormous list of game fixes, including things like re-balanced Combat Arts, improved performance, cleaned up UI glitches, and plenty more.
On top of that, the beta version of the Sacred 2 Network has also now been launched at Sacred2.net. The Sacred 2 Network is a community portal for Closed-Net players to get together and compare scores, share profiles, earned medals, ranks and achievements, and so on.

Sacred 2 ships tomorrow in North America, but only today are we finally finding out what’ll be offered in the special Collector’s Edition. Available exclusively at Amazon.com in the US and Amazon.ca, Future Shop and EB Games Canada in Canada, the Collector’s Edition features an “Elite Texture Pack” bonus DVD containing an exclusive set of ultra-high resolution textures for high-end PC users, an in-game Carrier Imp pet that serves as an extended inventory, a soundtrack sampler with four songs and an audio interview with Blind Guardian and the game’s developers, a two-in-one printed map/poster of the world of Ancaria, and a digital version of the “Art and Vision” art book.
CDV’s press release today does not mention a price though, and I’ve searched the sites it’s supposed to be available from and they don’t have it listed (Amazon shows the UK version, but not the US). If it’s only $10 more it may be worth getting, though we here in North America definitely didn’t get as good of a CE package as in the UK. If only the art book was an actual book and not digital. I’d be so much more excited about this.
But anyways, look on the jump for a video trailer introducing the Carrier Imp CE pet. He’s a cute little bugger!
