Deal of the Week – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Mon, 31 Jan 2011 21:56:25 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Get Wet in Hydrophobia, Now for Half the Price http://www.vgblogger.com/get-wet-in-hydrophobia-now-for-half-the-price/8500/ Mon, 31 Jan 2011 16:56:25 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=8500 Hydrophobia.jpg

Microsoft is going with a water theme for the Xbox Live ‘Deal of the Week’ this week. Until next Monday rolls around, Xbox Live Gold subscribers can soak in the aquatic thrills of Hydro Thunder Hurricane, Aqua and Hydrophobia for only 800, 400 and 400 MS Points, respectively.

I haven’t played Hydro Thunder Hurricane or Aqua, so I can’t recommend either of those. But I did play (and review) Hydrophobia, and although it’s a flawed game, 400 MS Points is a low-risk investment. The game has become much better since I reviewed it as well (and much cheaper than its 1200 MS Point launch price, too!). Right before Christmas, developer Dark Energy released a free patch overhauling many aspects of the game, including improving the shooting controls and cover system and tweaking the camera to more of a Resident Evil 4/5 viewpoint, among other changes.

So if you’ve been pondering a purchase, go ahead and dive on in. Just remember to bring a towel and a flashlight!

XBLA Deal of the Week: Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition http://www.vgblogger.com/xbla-deal-of-the-week-zeno-clash-ultimate-edition/7014/ Wed, 01 Sep 2010 20:28:19 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=7014 ZenoClashXBLADealOfTheWeek.jpg

Hey, Xbox Live Gold Members! Your XBLA “Deal of the Week” this week is a good one, so do take notice. ACE Team’s bizarre, grotesque, and strangely beautiful first-person brawler, Zeno Clash Ultimate Edition, can now be had for 33% off the regular price of 1200 MS Points. That reduction brings it down to a gotta-have-it price of only 800 MS Points ($10).

Seriously, buy this game, folks — and shout out a big, fat “thank you Atlus!” while doing so. It has some control quirks to work through, but overall it’s a truly unique experience with an incredibly satisfying combat engine and hours and hours of gameplay. But be quick about it, because you only have until next week before the price jumps back up.
