As expected, Arkane Studios’ Dishonored featured prominently during the Bethesda Softworks E3 2015 press briefing Sunday night. There are two major headlines to report.
First, the original Dishonored is getting the every-last-gen-game-is-doing-it-now remaster treatment in the upcoming release of Dishonored Definitive Edition, which launches August 25th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Retailing for $39.99, the Definitive Edition will feature the full original game and all DLC — Dunwall City Trials, The Knife of Dunwall, The Brigmore Witches, and Void Walker’s Arsenal — bolstered by upgraded graphics.
That’s great and all, but the sequel is the real story. Dishonored 2 is now officially a go for a springtime 2016 launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
Set 15 years after the end of the first game, Dishonored 2 will build upon the foundation of choice-driven action, assassination, mobility, and stealth, thrusting players into the roles of either Emily Kaldwin or Corvo Attano (because apparently every game now must have male and female protagonists) as they venture from Dunwall to the coastal city of Karnaca in an attempt to restore Emily to her rightful place on the throne as Empress.
Actual gameplay won’t be revealed until later in the summer, but a CG announcement trailer has been released to help get the hype train off and rolling.
