Now’s your chance to get in some early adventuring in the world of Rivellon, as cdv has released a playable demo for both PC and Xbox 360 versions of Divinity II: Ego Draconis in North America today, two weeks ahead of the game’s January 5th ship date. Below is a brief description of the demo contents, above is the latest gameplay trailer highlighting the game’s classless skill tree system.
]]>The Divinity II – Ego Draconis demo give players an early peek at groundbreaking features rarely seen in an action RPG, like Mindreading, a robust classless Skill Tree and upgrade system, and even a harrowing encounter with a dragon! This several-hour demo offers plenty of combat, exploration and questing for players to get a glimpse of the adventure and intrigue that awaits them in Divinity II – Ego Draconis.
Usually we don’t hear about games going gold until maybe a week or two ahead of release, but that’s not the case with Divinity II: Ego Draconis. CDV has announced that the PC and Xbox 360 action-RPG has already gone gold, well in advance of the game’s confirmed January 5, 2010 North American ship date. Seems like CDV is purposefully holding back the release to avoid the stiff holiday competition, and I don’t blame them for a second. Although it’s not like the release schedule will be thinning out all that much early next year…
In other Divinity II news, CDV is currently running an “Epic PC Sweepstakes” with a custom gaming rig up for grabs (among other sweet prizes) and a GameStop pre-order campaign offering the Blood Echelon Armor and Weapon Set as bonus in-game items. Click the provided links for all the details.

If you were able to make it out to PAX earlier this month you’ve already heard the news, but for those who missed the event here’s the skinny: CDV has signed up the North American publishing rights to Larian Studios’ PC and Xbox 360 RPG Divinity II – Ego Draconis. There’s no ship date just yet, but it is scheduled for stateside release for the holiday season, with December likely the target month for launch.
“Divinity II – Ego Draconis is a perfect fit for the North American market, and we are very excited to be publishing it,” said Tom Gross, CEO of cdv Software Entertainment USA. “Larian Studios is a well-respected developer and for this reason we are very glad to be able to expand our US line-up this holiday season with such a fantastic product.”
