Sean Bean isn’t the only recognizable voice you’ll be hearing in Kholat, the upcoming Unreal Engine 4 horror game inspired by the real-life unsolved mystery known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident.

American actress, director, and singer Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, who Silent Hill fans will surely know for her vocals on a number of soundtracks from those games and movies (she’s also known for English-language dubbing for anime), has collaborated with indie studio IMGN.PRO and composer Arkadiusz Reikowski on one of the game’s main songs.

Hit play on the video embed above to listen to an excerpt of the song, titled “Farewell.”

Kholat is scheduled to release June 10th on Steam. I don’t know how well it will play or if it will be scary, but with Sean Bean and now Mary Elizabeth McGlynn on board, I think it’s safe to say the game will certainly sound great.

Sean Bean-Narrated Horror Game Kholat Gets a Release Date and Backstory Trailer http://www.vgblogger.com/sean-bean-narrated-horror-game-kholat-gets-a-release-date-and-backstory-trailer/30944/ Tue, 03 Feb 2015 00:12:46 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=30944 Kholat_1

56 year ago, nine students from Russia went on an expedition to the Ural Mountains and were later found dead from bizarre injuries on the slope known as Kholat Syakhl. This unsolved mystery, known as the Dyatlov Pass Incident, serves as the true story inspiration for Kholat, an Unreal Engine 4 first-person open world exploration horror game by Polish indie studio IMGN.PRO.

Sounds pretty awesome. But it gets even better. If you didn’t hear the news during the hustle and bustle of the holiday season, British Actor Sean Bean, who you may know as Boromir and Ned Stark from Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones respectively, has signed on to voice a character named Anton, the lead narrator that will drive the story.

Announced today, Kholat will be available on April 24th for PC/Mac via Steam (it’s been greenlit) and other digital distributors, as well as in a boxed retail SKU in select territories. On this sad anniversary, IMGN.PRO has also released a new animated trailer providing background about the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. A pre-alpha gameplay teaser was also released last fall, if you’d like to see what the game itself is expected to look like. Pre-orders, including an exclusive digital prologue comic, have opened at www.buy.kholat.com.
