Flower – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Thu, 10 Apr 2014 04:08:49 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Conan O’Brien Visits Jerry’s World, Plays Games on AT&T Stadium’s Jumbotron http://www.vgblogger.com/conan-obrien-visits-jerrys-world-plays-games-on-att-stadiums-jumbotron/25889/ Wed, 09 Apr 2014 22:58:53 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=25889 CluelessGamer_1.jpg

Conan O’Brien took his late night show on the road to Dallas, Texas last week, and while he was there he paid a visit to AT&T Stadium, also commonly called “Jerry’s World” by sports commentators. But instead of getting into shenanigans with the Dallas Cowboys or perving out on the team’s cheerleaders, Conan did the first thing any of us would do if given the opportunity. That’s right, he hooked a PlayStation 4 up to the enormous DiamondVision scoreboard to play some video games for the latest installment of Clueless Gamer.

Watch along as Conan plays Madden NFL 25, Flower, Need for Speed: Rivals and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix on a 72’x160′ 1.2 million pound screen. His final recommendation: Go rent an NFL stadium to play games on, or at the very least a basketball arena. Thanks for the advice, Coco.

Flower and Sound Shapes Join PlayStation 4 Digital Launch Lineup, Flow and Escape Plan to Follow http://www.vgblogger.com/flower-and-sound-shapes-join-playstation-4-digital-launch-lineup-flow-and-escape-plan-to-follow/23931/ http://www.vgblogger.com/flower-and-sound-shapes-join-playstation-4-digital-launch-lineup-flow-and-escape-plan-to-follow/23931/#comments Wed, 16 Oct 2013 15:57:59 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=23931 Flower_PS4

Sony has bolstered the PlayStation 4 launch lineup today by announcing that hit PSN games Flower, flOw, Sound Shapes and Escape Plan will make the jump into the next generation. PS4 versions of Flower (at 1080p and 60fps) and Sound Shapes will hit on launch day, November 15th, with flOw and Escape Plan to follow shortly thereafter on November 29th. A Vita version of Flower will also be released on the 15th.

Best news of all, these four games will be cross-buy. If you already own any of these games on PS3 or Vita, you will be able to download them for free on your shiny new PS4. Or if you buy them for the first time on PS4, they’ll be ready to download on the other platforms. (Escape Plan is the only game that won’t have a PS3 version.)

Unfortunately for those of us who bought Flower and flOw with the glorious Journey Collector’s Edition retail collection, Sony has no way of tracking who owns physical copies of games since they aren’t linked to a user’s PSN account. Therefore this cross-buy deal will only apply to digital copies.

JourneyCollectorsEdition

On August 28th, thatgamecompany’s latest PSN classic Journey (read our review here) lands on store shelves in a retail Collector’s Edition release for $29.99. What makes it a Collector’s Edition? Well, for starters it will also come with the studio’s previous PSN favorites, flOw and Flower, in addition to a roster of bonus content that will make any thatgamecompany fan cream in their pants.

Joining the three games on a single Blu-ray disc will be: a 30-minute “The Making of Journey” documentary; all three official soundtracks; developer commentary playthroughs for each title; screenshot/artwork galleries; trailers and developer diaries; PSN avatars; PS3 XMB wallpapers and dynamic themes; and three exclusive bonus mini-games thatgamecompany created for in-studio use during the 24hr Game Jam, including Gravediggers, Duke War!!, and Nostril Shot. A one month trial subscription for PlayStation Plus will also be tucked inside the box, a box that will just so happen to feature reversible cover art.

This set is called the Journey Collector’s Edition, but really it’s a celebration of all things thatgamecompany. Amazing! Now if only other developers/publishers would put together more of these retail round-ups of favorite digital download titles…

[E3 2008] PSN Media Guide Part 2: Flower and PixelJunk Eden http://www.vgblogger.com/e3-2008-psn-media-guide-part-2-flower-and-pixeljunk-eden/3445/ Fri, 18 Jul 2008 03:04:29 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=3445 FlowerPixelJunkEden.jpg

Two of the most unique titles heading to the PS3 PlayStation Network, or any platform for that matter, are Flower and PixelJunk Eden, the former a so-called “Zen” game in which you play as the wind guiding flower pedals through vivid landscapes to complete various objectives using intuitive tilts of the Sixaxis (or DualShock 3) and the latter a cooperative plant-life platformer putting 1-3 players in control of small creatures called Grimps hopping, bopping and swinging around dynamic, ever-evolving garden environments. Both games sport incredibly stylized visuals, and PixelJunk Eden will even support trophies and PSP remote play. Those sound unique enough for you?

OVERVIEW
The pioneers that brought you the award-winning PLAYSTATION Network title flOw are back with another concept that challenges traditional gaming conventions. Flower expands the team’s tradition of delivering simple gameplay, accessible controls and a medium to explore emotional chords uncommon in video games. In Flower, the surrounding environment, most often pushed to the background in games, is pulled to the forefront and becomes the primary “character.” The player fades from an external and stressful world in the opening of this fresh and genuine game only for PS3, and journeys through beautifully vivid landscapes, changing the his surroundings and exploring nature along the way.

Playing as the wind, the player guides and grows a swarm of pedals by interacting with other flowers and the surrounding environment. The goals and journey in each level vary, but all involve flight, exploration and interaction with the level. Using simple SIXAXIS wireless controls, the player guides the lead petal and accumulates a swarm of flower petals as he moves at his own pace within the environment, causing the on-screen world to change. Flower’s gameplay offers different experiences, pacing and rhythm to all players. Along the way, the environment will pose challenges to the player’s progress.

Both pastoral and at times chaotic, Flower is a visual, audio and interactive escape on PS3.

KEY FEATURES

– Simple Gameplay Controls – Accessible controls appeal to both the casual and hardcore gamer and offer simplistic and relaxing gaming. Freely playing as the wind is as easy as titling the SIXAXIS wireless controller.

– Lush and Interactive Environment on PS3 – In Flower, over 200,000 blades of grass are simulated and animated simultaneously on-screen, creating an verdant environment not possible on any other platform.

– Dynamically Adjusting Experience – Players with differing skill levels and/or moods can intuitively customize their game experience and enjoy the game at their own pace.
