Call of Duty: World at War hasn’t even been formally announced by Activision yet (it just got an unveil in some Xbox 360 magazine I believe), but we’re already about to get our eyes on the first footage of the game in action. The next episode of “GameTrailers TV with Geoff Keighley” airing Friday, June 20th, at 1:00am ET/PT, will unveil just that, world-exclusive gameplay footage from the next Call of Duty.

After the brilliance of Call of Duty 4, World at War will have a lot of expectations to live up to. But frankly, considering its taking the series back to WWII and switching development hands back to Treyarch, I’m not entirely optimistic. Sorry, if Infinity Ward doesn’t develop it, it’s not a “real” Call of Duty if you ask me. World at War is being built around the CoD4 engine at least, so that gives me confidence it won’t be as forgettable as CoD3 was. I guess we’ll get a better idea on Friday.

On a side note, the June 20th episode of GTTV will also play host to a few other exclusive game reveals. The first-ever gameplay footage from THQ’s UFC 2009 and EA Pandemic’s The Lord of the Rings: Conquest will be premiered, in addition to some special Star Wars exclusive from Lucas Arts. Sounds like it’ll be one great show!

Keighley and EA Sports President Peter Moore will be squaring off in Facebreaker, EA’s upcoming arcade boxing title, using custom-designed characters modeled in their likenesses. Who are you putting your money on?
