Sony today has outlined its pre-order plans for Gran Turismo 6, which include a standard 4-car bonus pack, a GameStop exclusive 15th Anniversary Edition with a total of 20 cars plus additional perks, and an Amazon pack that comes with the 4-car pack and a million dollars of in-game cash to spend on cars and upgrades.
For anyone worried about all of this content being held out of the game for pre-order only, Sony has clarified that these cars will be found within the game for all players, pre-ordering just grants immediate access with the added benefit of exclusive visual and performance upgrades. You’ll be able to race them online right away, but you’ll still need to up your racing license before taking many of them into single-player races, as to not break the balance of the early events. If you choose not to pre-order, the cars will still be available to unlock as you normally would acquire new cars in a Gran Turismo game. You just won’t get the special upgrades for them.
Here is a complete overview of the pre-order deals:

Gran Turismo 6: Pre-order Details Revealed [PlayStation.Blog]
Gran Turismo 6 Pre-order [GameStop]
Gran Turismo 6 Pre-order [Amazon]
Ever since Gran Turismo 5 left the garage, you just know Kazunori Yamauchi and his team of mechanics at Polyphony Digital have been in the shop, tirelessly working away at the sixth ‘Real Driving Simulator’. However instead of making a huge splash by positioning Gran Turismo 6 as a PlayStation 4 launch title, or possibly even some epic cross-platform release across the family of PlayStation systems (still no GT Vita love? come on Sony!), Sony has unveiled GT6 for PlayStation 3.
But who knows, with E3 right around the corner don’t be surprised if Kaz has something to announce for the next generation of PlayStation console gaming. Today’s press release announcement does not mention exclusivity to PS3 any where in its many lines of text. At least not that I noticed.
For now, GT6 is due only for PS3 release this holiday season. Existing cars and tracks from GT5 will carry over, with new additions bringing the car roster up to 1,200, and the number of racing locales up to 33. The Polyphony pit crew has also rebuilt the game’s rendering and physics engines for maximum authenticity, in addition to making improvements to the UI and course maker feature.
But all that only scratches the surface of the work that’s gone into this racing game remodel. Take a look at this lengthy list of upgrades planned for Gran Turismo 6:
New Game Engine
– Refactoring
– Compact, nimble operation
– Flexible expandability
– A new rendering engine that pushes the limits of the PS3New Physics Engine
– New suspension and kinematics model
– New tire model
– New aerodynamics model
– Technical partnership with Yokohama Rubber and KW Automotive1,200 Cars, abundant custom parts, and on-going DLC
– From historic cars to the latest racing cars, the game contains a total of 1200 cars.
– Multiple aerodynamic parts and custom wheels will be available for almost all cars.
– Players can create their own personalized custom car in the game.
– Cars will be continually added online33 locations, 71 layouts
– 33 Locations and 71 layouts will be provided from day 1 (7 more locations and 19 more layouts than GT5)
– More new tracks will continue to be provided onlineNew Course Maker
– Massive scenery spanning several tens of square kilometers
– A new course generation algorithmCommunity/Club/Race Organizer
– Players can form their own communities
– Various community levels from local and domestic to global
– Players themselves can create and manage their own online eventsNew User Interface
– Balancing directional key operation and touch operation
– Quick response
– Shortening of loading timesMulti Device Compatibility
– PlayStation
– Smart Phone
– Tablet
– PCAt the same time as the PS3 version of GT6 the “Real Driving Simulator” launches, a mobile version and web application version of GT6, will be created to enjoy Gran Turismo’s massive community space.
Real/Virtual “Edge Effect” Activity
– A variety of “Edge Effects”, the chemical reactions between the real world and the virtual world for which the Gran Turismo series is famous, are also planned for GT6. Exciting collaborations between various automotive manufacturers and collaborations with brands crossing different industries will be revealed gradually across the next six months.
Whoa! That’s a lot of new stuff under the hood. As usual, the paint job sure is shiny, too.

Multiplayer in God of War? I know, it still doesn’t sound quite right. But Sony Santa Monica has revealed its competitive ambitions for the next PlayStation 3 mythological adventure, and here you’ll find the first screenshots showing teams of Kratos wannabes fighting for the right to slay a giant cyclops.
Not to be outdone, Activision came through with the completely expected news that Call of Duty: Black Ops II is exploding onto the gaming scene this fall. The near-future Cold War premise with horseback riding and unmanned drones turned into an army of robot invaders? Now that stuff wasn’t so predictable.
For mascot kart racing fans, new screenshots for Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and LittleBigPlanet Karting crossed the finish line this week. Bethesda also dropped off a screen-grab six-pack for awesome-looking first-person action game Dishonored and, proving once again that games are art, Giant Sparrow presented its beautifully abstract first-person painting adventure game, The Unfinished Swan. Just one more artsy PlayStation Network exclusive to watch out for, folks.
Other new screenshot galleries to check out this week include: Persona 4 Golden, Orgarhythm, Ragnarok Odyssey, Mario Tennis Open, GT Academy 2012, Theatrhythm: Final Fantasy, The Last Story, Marvel Pinball: Avengers Chronicles, Hitman: Absolution, Metal Gear Solid HD Collection Vita, Ys Origin, Pokémon Conquest, Ms. Splosion Man, The Testament of Sherlock Holmes, Unchained Blades, Warlock: Master of the Arcane, Starvoid, Blood Bowl: Chaos Edition, Salem: The Crafting MMO, Enclave: Shadows of Twilight and Free Realms third birthday celebration.

Sony would like to welcome PSP gamers to the world of Gran Turismo, and nothing says welcome like a batch of 42 new screenshots fresh off the lot.
]]>
With the economy continuing to struggle along and the current PSP-3000 doing just fine, the PSPgo doesn’t exactly seem like it has a place on the market right now, and Sony isn’t exactly doing a whole lot to make it an attractive buy.
We all know about the price. At $250 it’s damn expensive, especially when you factor in how the PS3 now costs only $50 more than that! But I can live with the price because at least Sony has been up front about the fact that it is aiming the PSPgo at early adopter techies willing to pay a premium. Same thing Apple does with its products.
But now I am really confused!
Today, Sony has announced plans to release a Limited Edition Gran Turismo PSP Entertainment Pack on October 20th, including a Mystic Silver PSP, a UMD copy of Gran Turismo, an exclusive PSN voucher to download a white Chevrolet Corvette ZR1, a 2GB Memory Stick, a PSN voucher to download a movie (title still TBA), and yet another voucher to download 10 free songs from Sony Music Pass. All those goodies will cost only $200. That’s a pretty sweet deal, right?
Of course, the catch is that this is a PSP-3000 bundle, whereas in Europe it is the PSPgo that is launching with GT PSP bundled in. My question is then, why would anyone want to pay more for the PSPgo when you can wait a couple weeks and buy this bundle with $50 to spare?
I don’t know, Sony. Unless you package GT (or at least something in addition to Rock Band Unplugged Lite) in with the PSPgo I think you’re shooting yourself in the foot with this one…

Once thought to be approaching vaporware status, Gran Turismo PSP returned to the spotlight this week, with a confirmed release date to boot. It’ll be launching side by side with the PSP go on October 1st, and will be a full-on GT experience. 800+ rides, 30+ tracks with over 60 total layouts, ad hoc car trading, unrivaled racing physics and more. Oh yeah, and like all GT games it’ll deliver genre-defining graphics running at a full 60 frames per second.
Full gallery after the break.
