Lord of the Rings: Conquest – VGBlogger.com http://www.vgblogger.com Celebrating geek culture -- Books, Gadgets, Video Games & More! Fri, 29 Aug 2008 17:40:56 +0000 en-US hourly 1 Will the Real Lord of the Rings: Conquest Please Stand Up? http://www.vgblogger.com/will-the-real-lord-of-the-rings-conquest-please-stand-up/3707/ Fri, 29 Aug 2008 12:39:43 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=3707 I am so confused right now. These two new gameplay videos from Lord of the Rings: Conquest recently surfaced, and each clip seems like it’s showing a completely different game. The Lord of the Rings: Conquest depicted in this first clip is absolutely hideous, a game looking like a PS2-era production with stiff, glitchy animations, boxy characters, flat textures, piss-poor particle effects and controls that you can just tell from watching aren’t very refined.

But then the Lord of the Rings: Conquest in this second clip magically morphs into a game that while certainly still not jaw-dropping by any stretch of the imagination at least shows that it was made for this current generation of hardware and may actually be mildly entertaining.

The thing is, I don’t know which video to believe. Is the game really as hideous as the first clip shows or was that footage shot from an early build and the second clip shows what the game truly is? Only time will tell, but I must say all my Lord of the Rings fanboy enthusiasm for this game has now been completely sapped.

[E3 2008] New Lord of the Rings: Conquest Screens http://www.vgblogger.com/e3-2008-new-lord-of-the-rings-conquest-screens/3398/ Tue, 15 Jul 2008 01:02:18 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=3398 Pandemic_LOTR_Conquest_PelennorFields5_bmp_jpgcopy.jpg

Is it just me or does Lord of the Rings: Conquest look a whole lot sharper in stills than it does in motion? I guess that’s to be expected. Not like it’s rare to see screens doctored up just a bit. Nonetheless, it looks great.

[E3 2008] Lord of the Rings: Conquest Interview http://www.vgblogger.com/e3-2008-lord-of-the-rings-conquest-interview/3382/ http://www.vgblogger.com/e3-2008-lord-of-the-rings-conquest-interview/3382/#comments Mon, 14 Jul 2008 11:04:26 +0000 http://www.vgblogger.com/?p=3382 Still not sure what to think of Lord of the Rings: Conquest. Being a diehard Lord of the Rings fan I want to be excited about it, but I don’t know, for some reason the look and style of it isn’t exactly thrilling me just yet. I do like that it’ll have both good and evil campaigns, though. Those should at least be fun to play through.

Looks a bit rough around the edges graphically, but overall I dig the early tease.
