Watch the Monster Hunter Freedom Unite tutorial? Good, because now it’s time to put what you learned to the test.
With today’s PlayStation Store update, Capcom is launching a playable demo for the upcoming PSP action-RPG. The demo provides three different missions in three different regions with three different monsters to slay, a wide selection of pre-made characters for all the different weapon types, four-player ad-hoc support for cooperative monster hunting and three of the new AI Felyne Fighters for soloists to call upon for help. Sounds like one loaded demo!

Monster Hunter Portable 2nd G, an expansion pack to Monster Hunter Freedom 2 previously released only in Japan, is officially coming to North American shores as Monster Hunter Freedom Unite, Capcom announced at the Tokyo Game Show this week.
As you’d expect from an expansion, Monster Hunter Freedom Unite beefs up and extends what was seen in Monster Hunter Freedom 2. That means there’ll be new quests to embark on, new equipment to outfit with and, of course, new monsters to slay by yourself or with up to three fellow monster hunters (multiplayer will remain Ad-Hoc only, though reports of a PSP Plus! remote play feature say it’ll be playable online by syncing up with a PS3). Other new features include an AI “Felyne” companion to lend a hand in the solo experience, a Media Install option enabling game data to be saved to a memory stick for zippier loads and extended battery life, and the option to transfer character data from Monster Hunter Freedom 2.
A ship date hasn’t been set yet, but an early round of screenshots has been released. Gallery located on the jump.
