Mortal Kombat is back, y’all!
NetherRealm Studios’ ninth Mortal Kombat tournament, available now for PS3 and Xbox 360, is a triumphant return to the proud tradition established by the first three games in the 90’s. Now the classic games that started it all are joining forces for one ultimate fighting game compilation. Errmmm… I mean kompilation!
Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection, scheduled for a late summer digital download release on PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, is a trilogy bundle containing Mortal Kombat, Mortal Kombat 2 and Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, each preserved in their original arcade state.
For 40 quarters, or $9.99 / 800 Microsoft Points, you’ll get all three games complete with online play, achievements/trophies and leaderboards, as well as all your favorite digitized kombatants and fatalities.
The only thing the press release doesn’t mention is whether or not there will be an option to view those vintage digitized graphics at an HD resolution. For now I’m assuming the game will display at original arcade resolution in some form of a bordered format, similar to previous downloadable arcade games.
