With original PS2 game development rapidly grinding to a halt, it appears that releasing three-pack series compilations has become all the rage among publishers aiming to continue squeezing money out of Sony’s last gen console. Major franchise’s like Medal of Honor, Devil May Cry, Hitman and Metal Gear Solid have already received the compilation treatment, and now the next franchise to jump on the bandwagon is Mortal Kombat. This September, as announced today, Midway will ship the Mortal Kombat: Kollection, a PS2-exclusive bundle containing the three latest MK titles: Mortal Kombat: Deception, Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, and Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks. The retail price will be $30, which breaks down to a mere $10 per game. I’m not a huge MK fan, but that’s a nice deal.
In other news, Midway still can’t stop spelling every word with a “K” that’s supposed to start with a “C”. That naming convention is really getting old now…
