Well color me surprised! I wasn’t expecting much when I first heard about Viva Piñata coming to the DS, but now seeing it in action I’m right impressed with what Rare is pulling off. Scope out these five gameplay vids, maybe they’ll surprise you too.

The Piñatas Are Back: Microsoft, Rare Announce Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise

Rare has more than just the new Banjo-Kazooie game in the works for the good ol’ Xbox 360, the team is also hard at work on a real sequel to Viva Piñata (forget about that Viva Piñata: Party Animals crap). Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise is currently on track to ship this September, and it’ll feature everything you’d expect from a sequel. 32 new piñata species to “attract, capture, protect, train and manage,” new interactions, a new “Just for Fun” mode offering quick pick-up-and-play accessibility, new two-player co-op garden building over Xbox Live, a new photo mode and The Eye of Judgment-style Xbox Live Vision Camera functionality for scanning printed cards in through the camera to introduce new items directly into the game world. This morning’s Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts unveil was pretty anticlimactic since everyone already knew it was coming, but this, my friends, is most certainly not. That’s because the “this” I’m talking about is the first ever gameplay footage posted directly underneath these words!

This story definitely doesn’t have as much excitement behind it, what with all the rumors and leaks that have been surfacing that past couple of weeks. But here it is nonetheless, the official unveil of Rare’s next Banjo-Kazooie game! Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts is the official title, and it’s due out exclusively for Xbox 360 this November. As the title hints at, Nut & Bolts‘ central focus will be on creating vehicles for Banjo to pilot from a vast array of collectible parts, with unlimited part combinations promising to give every player a different gameplay experience as they create their own unique vehicular contraptions.
