Sony turned some heads today with the announcement of a new Uncharted game for the PlayStation Vita, amplifying the excitement by mentioning that the new game is scheduled to release in December. All excitement was immediately crushed when it was revealed that this new Uncharted is actually a virtual card game.
An Uncharted card game? That’s right, folks. Uncharted: Fight For Fortune is just that, a turn-based card game starring the heroes and villains of the Uncharted universe. It’ll work as both a standalone game and a DLC tie-in with the Vita’s real Uncharted game, Golden Abyss, using collected artifacts from GA as a means to power up cards. Sounds kinda neat, actually.
Uncharted: Fight For Fortune will only cost $4.99 and appears to have a thick deck of features for such a small price. According to the announcement trailer, you can expect a campaign of more than eight hours, online multiplayer, unlockables, trophies and support for future DLC expansion.
Fight For Fortune is an odd way to expand the Uncharted story, but please people, stop freaking out like this is somehow destroying the Uncharted brand or taking away from the development of other games. It’s just a little spin-off diversion and an interesting way to carry off of your Golden Abyss collectibles, nothing more. Viewed just as a card game, it’s looking like a solid addition to the quickly broadening Vita game library. I’m certainly curious to give it a shot.
